Personal Care Services

This certificate program meets the training requirements of the Arizona Department of Health Services for caregivers of personal care services in assisted living facilities.

R9-10-724.B.3.b  For an individual who will be providing personal care services: In addition to verification of the training components in Supervisory Care Services, 30 hours or the amount of time needed to verify that an individual demonstrates specific skills and knowledge in the learning objectives of each of the following training components:

  • The aging process and medical conditions associated with aging or physical disabilities;
  • Assisting residents in activities of daily living and taking vital signs; and
  • Medications;


Personal Care – This training allows hands-on care/assistance of a resident.  Helping a resident bathe, dress, escort, toilet, etc.  Any assistance the resident requires that is non-skilled care can be provided.  The resident must be able to make basic care decisions, summon assistance, express their needs, and recognize danger.  Training for this level is 30 hours of classroom instruction that allows for demonstration of skill ~~ or the amount of time needed to verify that an individual demonstrates the specific skills and knowledge in the learning objectives in the components prescribed by the AZDHS.
